"light duty use only - very expensive for regular use" 2010-02-13
By Michael Winters
We bought these initially for the trucks but quickly found that they were very expensive hole saws on a holes per dollar basis. Cut more than a couple holes in cement board or even MDF and these hole saws are toast - literally with the burn marks on the side of the hole saw. Cutting plywood or MDF or OSB and the material will start to smoke before you can finish the hole.

OK for mild steel and simple projects where time is not important and where you can use a cord drill. For cordless drills these bi-metal hole saws with their tiny high speed steel teeth quickly kill the charge in a battery. We can get 3-4 holes in wood even with 18v lithium-ion batteries.

Problem with all Milwaukee cases is that they don't provide room for adding more hole saw sizes to the kit. You have to buy a new kit and even then most cannot hold a 4-5/8" size needed for making holes for 4" pipe.

Much faster cutting and much longer battery life by using Blue Boar TCT tungsten carbide hole cutters for wood, plaster, composites, fiberglass, cement board and the like or even the Milwaukee Big Hawg hole cutters for wood.

BLUE BOAR TSF12 -12 Piece Tungsten Carbide TCT Self-Feed Hole Saw kit w/ 2-1/4" cutting depth, outperforms self-feed bits & bi-metal hole saws. Cut wood, MDF, OSB, laminates, Hardie & chipboard, plaster, drywall, brick, Formica

Maximum cutting depth is average, neither great nor terrible but it is something to consider if you want to buy tools for general use in lots of different situations. Not important for steel which is where the Milwaukee bi-metal hole saws are best used. "Ice hardening" is wonderful marketing hype but you still have high speed steel cutting tips which are marginal for most materials.

 "Very Nice Set" 2009-04-06
By S. Crane (Tinley Park, IL)
I haven't used every size yet, but they all seem very sharp and the case is quite heavy-duty. The only thing I was let down about was the "case has space for more hole saws" part. There is a small storage space in the top of the case that can fit (3) 1-1/4ish hole saws. You CAN NOT fit any size larger that what is supplied in the case. I bought a 2-3/4" and 3" to finish the set off, but neither will fit in the case, but I didn't think it was fair to deduct a star for that. Overall I'm very satisfied with what I got for the price.

"I'm very impressed with this kit" 2009-11-05
By Paul N. Reeder
So far, I've used these saws to cut holes in plastic, drywall, and red oak. Minding speed for material being cut, the results have always been outstanding. I've had opportunity to chuck the saws in both a 18V cordless drill and a 16.5" drill press with no problems. This kit provides a great range of sizes and these guys stay sharp! Very nice case set up wisely which conserves room yet still makes each of the saws easily accessible. To sum it up, this "Made in the U.S.A." kit is a great deal for the money and I, personally, would buy it again in a heartbeat!

I do a far share of electrical, plus other odd projects around house. This set has been great. The case even has room to fit a couple duplicate Hole Saws I had before buying a set.

With proper care and usage these blades hold up for a long life.

 "AAfairy" 2010-02-07
By M. Davis (Salmon, Idaho)
I purchased this set for my husband for Christmas and he was thrilled. Not long after Christmas my husband needed to drill a hole in some heavy metal. Before it would have taken him forever, but he came and told me how fast he drilled the hole with one of these hole saw bits. He couldn't believe it and is thoroughly impressed. We are sold on Milwaukee products anyway, and this is just one more example of a great product. I also feel I got a good deal on Amazon. That is where I have purchased all of my Milwaukee gifts for him. Hard to beat Amazon's price and free shipping, I have tried.

"Wish I had this set long ago" 2009-11-02
By W. Lowe
I've owned a few of those smaller sets and while helpful, I never seemed to have the size I needed. Ended up drilling a hole too big or too small and having to enlarge it. With this set, I always have the size I need, all the way up to 4-3/4". There's a good chance that I will never use several sizes in the set, but I know that if I need it, it's there.

The hole saws are very sharp and stay sharp, compared to others I've owned from Bosch, Dewalt, Lenox and Ace Hardware. It comes with extra pilot bits which is a plus. Also, really like the plastic case, everything fits well and stays in place.

I would definitely but this set again, but have a feeling I won't have to. I'll just replace dull hole saws as necessary.

"Milwaukee 28 piece All Purpose Hole Saw Kit" 2009-10-02
By Sticks (Veedersburg, Indiana)
I ordered this kit due to needing a couple different sized hole saw cutters to put in some dead bolts. I had purchased Milwaukee cutters prior to this but just purchased the individual cutter for the job at hand. I did decide to buy the 28 piece kit because I liked the idea of having all my cutters in 1 easy container to carry to a job and believe this kit will contain every cutter I will ever need. It does. It has every cutter size I needed and probably ever will need. The container is well built and appealing. I didn't know how the drive system to the cutters had changed since I purchased my last individual cutter. The new system has threads in the base of the cutter with 2 pins that are threaded into the cutter from the drive shaft that holds the drill bit. This is the best system I've seen. I also believe these cutters will take many cuts through metal or wood before beginning to dull. Its a lot of money but its probably the last hole saw kit you will ever need unless you use them daily. I'm very satisfied with this kit.

"Great Saws, Great collection and very good price" 2009-08-20
By WMG (Chicago, IL)
I needed a 4 3/4" hole saw for a floor outlet box. I needed a 2 1/8" hole saw for a lockset. Found both sizes and many more in this collection.

Both times that I have used these saws, I was impressed.

For the money, I did not find a better selection of sizes.

Both large and small chucks are included and the case organizes things wonderfully.

I don't believe that anyone with a need for multiple sizes would be disappointed in this set.

 "Great starter set" 2009-05-17
By A. Paredes (Los Angeles, CA)
Good variety of blades to test out the capabilities of your Hackzall. Oddly, these blades seem to last longer than standard recip saw blades. Or maybe I'm just not using the Hackzall in as intense situations as I would a standard reciprocating saw. Still, I sliced up a one-piece fiberglass tub w/ surround into quite a few pieces and cut out the surrounding drywall with one PVC blade. Blade still looks great.

Superior quality blades. I have not found a better blade than Milwaukee.

After acquiring this set I performed multiple jobs over several days with a single blade. Main use was cutting trees and tree branches. After putting this blade to the test, it is still sharp and going strong.

I would recommend these blades to anyone.

"Gets the job done, but nothing special" 2009-10-09
By Eric S. Olstad (New Jersey, USA)
This is a nice little attachment to have to save yourself from having to go out and buy drill bits that have a hex end. Just pop this bad boy in there and you'll be able to use *most* of your drill bits. The problem is that it's only 1/4". The larger drill bits simply won't fit. 1/2" would have done the trick, but there doesn't seem to be a 1/2" chuck attachment anywhere.

It certainly gets the job done though. It locks up nice and tight using the chuck key. You never have to worry about it loosening up on you in the middle of work as some of the keyless chucks are prone to.

But now the problem comes down to where do you put your chuck key? Most of the drills that have the quick swap "chuck" are small and don't have any room for magnets or whatever you would need to hold the chuck key for you. So, that's definitely an issue. But I guess the saving grace for that is that it's a common chuck key and you could find a replacement easily. If not, it's still somewhat possible to use your hand (provided you have a glove or some really thick callouses).

 "What's the capacity?" 2009-10-01
By J. Partridge (Michigan)
Hey what's the capacity of this chuck? I know they call it a "1/4-Inch Chuck Attachment", but that might be the drill bit capacity or the size hex drive that it fits. I can't seem to find the info on Milwaukee's site.

Thanks,

Handy item. Hex drive drill bits are pricy to use, snap one and it is junk. With this 'lil chuck you can use standard shank bits in a hex driver, do a pilot hole, pop out the chuck, pop in a driver bit.
